Easter 2012

We started out Easter weekend by going to my usual Friday morning Bible study.  I brought this cute bunny bread dip and veggies (thank you, Pinterest!)

In the evening, we all attended our Good Friday service of darkness together as a family.  Of course, we were about 20 minutes late, as usual, and the sanctuary was completely dark!

Earlier in the week, I had attempted to get some Easter shots of the kids and ended up with pretty mixed results.  I still have no clue how to use my new camera and the 2 books I purchased to help me learn more are still unread.  I took some cute shots of the kids together but because the camera settings were all wrong, they turned out dark and grainy.  Boo :(

Here's some better ones after playing with the camera settings some more

We spent most of Saturday getting things ready for Easter: cooking food, putting together eggs for the egg hunt, assembling the kids' baskets.  This is the first time that Maddie really gets Easter so it's been really fun!  We even did a very simplified version of the Resurrection Eggs with Maddie so she would know that Easter is far more than eggs and cute bunnies.

We had a little family Easter dinner on Saturday night of ham, potato salad and green bean casserole.  For dessert, we made Easter s'mores with Peeps instead of regular marshmallows.

Maddie thought they were awesome! :)

We had a video chat with my parents after dinner and the kids got to open their Easter presents from Memaw and PaPa.

Maddie claimed Isaac's Thomas the Train lunchbox and she is also wearing his size 24 month pajamas!  Silly girl :)

We were all up early Easter morning and the kids opened their Easter baskets from us before we headed to church.

We tried to fill the baskets with practical things instead of more toys - new sun hats, swimsuits, t-shirts and toothbrushes, plus some Easter treats.  But we did include a wooden Thomas Easter train set and Veggie Tales movie for them to share.  Isaac was thrilled with his new dinosaur hat.  Maddie was the most excited about the train, as expected!

After church, we drove up to Quan's parents house for Easter lunch (and boy was it yummy!).  My contribution - dyed deviled eggs (again a wonderful Pinterest find!)

Maddie spent most of the afternoon playing with a special wooden train set that she only gets to see at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

We also had a fun little egg hunt for the kids outside.

We had a wonderful couple of days celebrating with our families and remembering, especially at this time of year, all that Christ had done for us!
