Isaac is {Almost} Two!

I haven't written an update on Isaac since he turned one last year and boy has he changed and grown since then!  He will be two in just over two weeks so I figured I should probably write a little something about what he's been up to before his little brother makes his grand appearance (very soon!):

Personality:  Isaac is definitely an introvert like his Mama!  He knows tons of words but will only talk when he feels a need to, unlike big sister who talks almost constantly.  He's a little bit wild, loving to wrestle with Maddie on the floor, hit things, climb onto anything he can reach and making lots of sound effects and noise when playing!  He is 100% BOY :)  But Isaac also has a sensitive and affectionate side (like his Daddy) that I just love.  He regularly comes over for a quick hug or a cuddle when playing and loves to give kisses.  He adores his big sister and tries to imitate just about anything she does, including wearing her shoes and purses around the house!  His favorite nighttime lovey is a monkey just like Maddie.  Isaac also looks up to his Daddy and loves to "help" with fixing things around the house using his pretend tool set and watching his Daddy play Starcraft games.

Language and Learning:  Isaac knows so many words now that I've completely lost count, far more than Maddie at his same age.  Maddie often talks for him though so he doesn't always get a chance to use them :)  He has started putting words together into little phrases like "Go Nanas" and "More Cheese" and "Nooooo Maddie!".  He knows most of his friends' names (Ryan, Ava, Riley, Maddie) and of course Mama, Daddy, Memaw and Papa!  He loves to make sounds effects like "Choo Choo" when playing with his trains and "Vroom" and "Beep Beep" when playing with his cars.  He also knows some of his animal sounds - Moo, Ribbit, Meow, Ruff and roaring for lions and tigers and he knows the names of lots of animals too!  He recently learned how to say "Yoda" (Daddy taught him that one) and "Ka-chow" (learned from big sister!) and I am proud to say that I taught him how to say "Thank you" and he's been saying it regularly!  You can't teach manners too young :)  Of course he also knows Hi, Bye-bye, Night-night, lots of words for food, No (one of his favorite words!) and too many other things to list!

Eating:  Isaac is our totally non-picky eater!  He loves tons of different foods and is willing to try almost anything new on his plate.  He does have preferences though - he loves fruit, cheese, yogurt, several veggies (even broccoli or "broc-e" as he calls it!) scrambled eggs and most meats.  His favorite meals would probably be spaghetti and Mexican food.  This boy loves quesadillas, guacamole, beans, Spanish rice and tacos!

Sleeping:  Isaac is still a pretty good sleeper and loves his afternoon nap!  Although lately, he has been wanting to clown around with his big sister until 10pm at night!  He escaped from his crib once several months ago but hasn't done it since so for now he is still in his crib.  We are hoping to keep it that way until things settle down with the new baby!

Playing:  Some of Isaac's favorite toys are his cars, trains and airplanes.  He also LOVES his corn popper toy and pretends it's a vacuum with vacuum sounds effects and all.  Sometimes he wakes up in the morning making vacuum noises or he pretends that his fork is a vacuum at the dinner table.  The funny thing is he is generally terrified of the real vacuum!  He has developed a love of books and puzzles lately.  There have been times that I've lost track of Isaac and later find him quietly flipping through a picture book.  He pretty much loves any toy that he can push or pull - Maddie's baby stroller, his big Caterpillar truck and his alligator wooden pull toy.  We have been allowing him about an hour a day of "screen time" with big sister and he loves watching Sesame Street, particularly Elmo's World, and a more recent favorite, Bruno and the Banana Bunch, a really cute show about a monkey and his animal friends.

I never knew how much fun having a little boy was going to be but I am so glad to have such a sweet little guy in our lives!  He is going to have a bit of a hard time in the coming months as he transitions from being the baby to being the oldest brother but I know he's going to be a great brother and friend to our newest little guy :)
