One Year Old!

Here's the scoop on Isaac at just over a year old:

  • Weighs 24 lbs. 12 oz. (75 percentile) and is 32.5 inches long (97th percentile)
  • Has pretty much completely given up his morning nap.  We've been trying to push him out to 1pm for his one nap of the day so that he can have lunch and still have some nap overlap with big sister.  It's been going pretty well so far, although some days he gets pretty cranky in the hour or so before naptime.  I do miss that morning naptime!
  • Now has 8 teeth!  And still seems to be working on more.  His drooling and chewing on everything has started to slow down some though.
  • Is now drinking whole milk and using sippy cups.  He is still a GREAT eater and has not refused any foods yet!  He loves veggies, including lettuce, fruits, cheese, any meats, pasta, breads, and just about anything really.  I'm hoping he'll be a little less picky than his sister :)
  • Took a few steps for the first time on his birthday and has taken some steps here and there since, but doesn't seem too motivated for full on walking yet.  He can get just about anywhere by crawling and climbing.
  • Speaking of climbing.....this boy can climb!  He can crawl up and downstairs, climbs onto and off of the couch, inside baskets, our storage ottomans and he can even climb onto folding chairs!  Yikes!
  • Has started saying all kinds of words!  His first word was probably either "Hi" or "Bye" and he continues to say those all the time.  He loves to grab his play phone, hold it behind his head (instead of to his ear) and say "Hi!".  He also says "bye" or "bye-bye" and waves his arm whenever we are leaving - even if we are just leaving the house, he says "bye" as we head out the door.  He says dog, duck, dada/daddy, papa and car.  He's said mama only a handful of times and we think he may be saying flower, diaper, tiger and cracker but those all sound really similar.  And just this week he said "uh-oh", "poo-poo" and "boo" (while playing peek-a-boo).  Quite the little talker!  The funny thing is, I worked much harder on teaching Maddie words and she still didn't say a single word until 14 months old and I haven't had near the time or energy to work with Isaac and he's talking a ton!  I guess so much of it is just personality/genetics - although a big sis who talks NON-STOP at home may be helping :)
  • Is just the cutest little guy around but Mama is having a hard time with her baby being one!  I literally cried after his first birthday party.  It's like he went from a baby to a toddler overnight - it really is true - they just grow up way too fast!
 Matching brother sister shirts!

 Climbing skills!
